Conductor - Mt. Elliott Makerspace

Jeff Sturges loves making things, connecting people, and eating at potluck dinners. Inspired by his experience the MIT Fab Lab GreenFab program and the NYCResistor hackerspace, he moved to Detroit to build community workshops such as the Mt Elliott Makerspace and OmniCorpDetroit. Jeff believes that collaborative making and learning can be much more than just STEM and STEAM "education." It can be a way to strengthen ourselves and our communities. Jeff believes that by building more community workshops, We the People will make make things better.

Technology Integrator and FabLab Administrator - The Marymount School

During the day, Jaymes Dec is a Technology Integrator and Fab Lab Administrator at the Marymount School. At night and on weekends, he facilitates workshops for kids and educators on digital design and fabrication. Through his work with HTINK, a technology education co-operative, Jaymes is focused on establishing The Makery, a maker space for families and educators in New York City. Until they find a permanent space, they are using a pop-up model to discover best practices and do market research. Jaymes received his master's degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU. He was an Assistant Adjunct Professor at NYU, teaching a course on technology education. Jaymes is also the co-founder of City Hunt, a ten year old special events company.

Lisa Brahms

Director of Learning and Research - Children's Museum of Pittsburgh

Lisa Brahms is the Director of Learning and Research at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Lisa has been an educator and designer of formal and informal learning experiences and environments for over a decade, working in schools and at numerous children’s, art and history museums. Lisa holds a masters degree in Museum Education and Childhood Education from Bank Street School of Education. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Learning Sciences and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh where she is a member of the University of Pittsburgh Center for Learning in Out of School Environments (UPCLOSE). Lisa’s research considers the design of informal learning environments for meaningful participation in creative processes with digital and physical media.

Blog Coordinator - Maker Education Initiative

Steve is the blog coordinator for the Maker Education Initiative. For eight years he was the Documentation and Technology Specialist and a Math and a Science Teacher at Opal Public Charter School.

Jon Santiago

- HTINK

Jon Santiago works with schools, cultural institutions and community based organizations to create after school programs that are hands-on, engaging, and promote knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). As co-founder of the HTINK educational cooperative Jon has helped start Young Maker programs throughout the New York tri-state area that get middle school and high school students interested in electronics, computer programming, design, and the use of traditional hand tools. He has also worked with MakerBot Industries to develop 3-D printing curriculum and professional development workshops for teachers. Jon graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) where he worked with the FabLab program, a global initiative to bring digital fabrication laboratories to communities around the world.
