A DIY Book Scanner In Every Hackerspace

DIY Book Scanning is using cheap cameras and Free Software to digitize books quickly and gently. Over 1400 people have come together to develop scanning technology. Now, we'd like to put a book scanner in every hackerspace.

Daniel Reetz is an artist, a hacker, and an engineer. He is best known for founding of the DIY Book Scanner community, a thousand-strong group developing Open Source Hardware and Software that exploit cheap cameras to scan books quickly in environments where traditional scanning is unaffordable or impossible. He recently joined the Internet Archive.
