Student Made Segway Clone

Montgomery Blair High School Science, Mathematics, Computer Science Magnet students have built and are currently improving a Segway style personal transporter. Using repurposed parts from an electric wheelchair and a leftover robotic controller from a contest, they designed, built and programmed the transporter. To do this they had to learn to weld, and were forced to use their high-school programming skills in new and challenging ways. As students graduated their younger classmates stepped up into design and programming positions. Currently students are building a "lean-steer" type steering mechanism designed last year, and tweaking the programming to run it.
