We built a small scale programmable waterfall. Water from a reserve tank drops through 16 aligned, electronically controlled solenoid values. We can program the valves to open and close in such a way that images form in the falling water streams. We designed and built a special board to control the valves, along with a basic GUI interface for changing the images. Bonus! It glows under blacklight.
