Taiko Drums: Building and Playing

Watch us make Japanese Taiko Drums. The main body of a barrel becomes a large drum, the ends become small drums and the rings become art. Mini drumming classes will be held each hour, teaching the basics and a simple tune.

Wadaiko Newark

Wadaiko is a founding Member of Wadaiko Newark and Lead Instructor. Wadaiko started playing in 1997 after seeing Taiko played at a local Buddhist Church's Festival. He and his wife have built so many drums that they have lost count. His goals are to build the worlds' largest stave built Taiko drum, write his own Taiko Opera and last but not least - "play till I die!".
