4MP is a collaborative interactive music system. Four participants make music together by pulling on ropes. Each rope controls the playback of a separate musical track. Participants improvise by playing the tracks together: either they duplicate the sound of the original multi-track recording, or they make something new together.
Michael Chladil is a multimedia artist and prototype maker who grew up playing with pianos, computers, and small power tools. A desire to build physical interactive musical systems drove Chladil to earn a Masters degree at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program.
