GirlZilla is an 18ft giant girl sculpture with one glowing rear-projected translucent dome eye (the other covered by her multicolored recycled wire hair). Her eye blinks and looks, except when viewers choose interactive displays on an iPad control station. Clothes include felted crafts from our sister girls club in Nepal.
The Lower Eastside Girls Club makes videos, photos, blogs, podcasts, baked goods, crafts and hardware. They are now ready to build their biggest project – a 30,000 sq ft green/science community center with a planetarium. GirlZilla’s dome eye is a miniature version of that planetarium. Maker Girls Rock!
