It is a 5 blade ceiling fan with LEDs mounted vertically on the end of the blades. It scrolls a message 360 degrees above the tips of the blades. The message is input using a computer keyboard plugged into a radio transmitter. It is a mono color display. I use a C8051F364 to control the LEDs. The microcontroller was designed by Silicon Laboratories in Austin, TX.
I have been interested in electronics for 40 years. I stumbled on LEDs and persistence of vision 25 years ago. This project has lasted 12 years. The Silabs microcontroller was developed here in Austin, TX.
