Our display will include bonsai trees, trees in development, literature on bonsai and bonsai activities, and speciality tools used in bonsai. There will be a continuous demonstration of bonsai development.

Gordon Deeg

Gordon Deeg’s interest in bonsai started in the mid 1960s when he first saw some bonsai trees at the California State Fair. Since then he has maintained a collection of over 250 bonsai trees in all stages of training, and has taken classes from many local and international bonsai experts.

For the last 7 years Gordon has studied bonsai craft in Japan. He is a graduate of the El Dorado Satsuki Bonsai School and is certified as a bonsai teacher by the Golden State Bonsai Federation. He currently is the director of the GSBF Bonsai Collection at Lake Merritt.
