About the Maker(s)

Greg MacLaurin

Greg MacLaurin

Greg or Gerg, whichever, is a concept designer/artist who is currently obsessed with breaking and making new stuff with telephones. Who knows why. His personal slogan is “I swim in the river of ideas.” His work as a concept designer for various theme park companies (Walt Disney Imagineering, BRCIA, Universal Creative, etc.) dovetails closely with the interactive/environmental nature of his Mystery Phones. Take the Party Line. Please! It’s designed to enhance chance encounters/conversations at large parties. It’s an electronic ice-breaker! Kinda. And Ghost Phones are more than just old phones with stupid MP3 players hidden inside –- they’re self-contained worlds that share strange dreams with people. All of Gerg’s work and art reflects his obsession with storytelling in 3-dimensional space. Life as a theme park dark-ride.
